A Right Royal Rant...

Ok, I've got a hell of a lot of work to get through before Tuesday (and an exam on Thursday) so should technically be concentrating on that. Instead I'm going to write a post (first one in a very long time) as I'm a bit bored really.

I'm not a royalist, I couldn't give a flying monkey about who weds who, what they wear or indeed, what they ate for breakfast. However, today I inevitably ended up watching the royal wedding (though I'd told myself countlessly I wouldn't). I was surprised how much I actually enjoyed watching it; to me, they're both two ordinary people so why should I care about them any more than Janice and John from down t'road's* soon to be annulled do at the civic centre (bar the fact Janice and John had the courtesy to serve boxes of wine to get us truly hammered). For once, however, there was actually a sense of unison and community amongst the country (soppy old mare I am).

*Unfortunately Janice, John and their lovely Asda Price boxes of wine don't exist.

I've no issues with anyone who didn't watch it, like I said I only watched it by chance - I wasn't intending to at all. However what I do object to is people having a go at people for watching it and, indeed, enjoying the occasion. I'm fed up of so-called 'Socialists' posting rubbish about how the Royal Family encompass this or that. The majority of you are happy to live and work within our system, buy expensive laptops, support expensive commodities. The majority of you come from incredibly well off backgrounds and have never had to deal with the horrid poverty that curses this country.

It's not even the objections I (ahem) object to, it's the attitude of telling everyone else they're wrong. Apparently if you're not sitting on your £600 (at the very cheapest) Macbook on Facebook (one of the most prolific symbols of our supposedly wrong times) moaning about how everything's wrong, you're supporting an elitist system which is both 'racist' and 'unethical'.

I'm not even going to start the argument on the amount the monarchy bring in for tourism, though if you'd check the figures rather than the propaganda fed to you by peers, you'd see why we still have one. I don't know if people'd rather have a republic, but one only need look at the state of France and the US to realise we'd be no better off. Regardless of any 'facts' like that though, fair enough you have your opinions, but don't tell others that their opinion is wrong because you'd rather sit there and kid yourself that you're making a change to the system. Writing swearwords and smashing up Topshop does absolutely nothing for your cause, nothing for you, and nothing for the country.

I'm not "proud to be British" because two people got married. I'm not "proud to be British" at all. I'm proud to be me because the State doesn't reflect my opinions or who I am anymore than it does anyone else. But similarly, you shouldn't be proud to classify yourself as anti-everything when you're feeding off the money poured in my tourism to get your student loan and buy your laptop to moan about them. You're entitled to your own opinion, as am I to mine. But don't tell me I'm wrong because you think you're right, you might gain a bit more respect if you keep that in mind.

Rant over.

Also, here's a picture of Elizabeth getting married when she was younger. Just because I think she was pure loveliness at that age.

You can like the life you're living...

You can live the life you like.

But that life never seems to be the life you want until you're living a different life and then it becomes the life you like again.

Confused? I know I am.

"If you don't like your life you can change it"

I see this poster on the tube and take 'inspiration' from it sometimes and conspire to turn my life around, achieve all my biggest, darkest dreams. Then a few days later I'm back here moaning!

BUT ANYWAY It's been a very busy old life for me recently which has detracted me away from proper blogging. Hopefully I want to start a proper blog again soon where I explore things and review things that aren't my psyche! Rant over!

Excuse me while I burn my bra but...

Is it just me who finds the new Virgin Atlantic James Bond-esque a little bit...well...sexist.

I know it's all tongue and cheek. But seriously? Fly with Virgin Atlantic and you'll get put to bed by our ridiculously attractive and done up air hostesses (none of whom are able to be a pilot...unlike the men...obviously). It's just a step off O'Leary's 'beds and blowjobs' concept for the business class of EasyJet Atlantic..

I'm not one to object to women being glamorous and using their assets, but seriously. It's getting a little tiresome.

Student protests...

Incase you haven't guessed, I wasn't a protester. I did go down and took this video (plus several others and photos but only on my rubbish phone) though. Can't be bothered to write something to accompany it but thought I'd share it with y'all...

What a difference a day makes

Just thought I'd share this.

This was my garden table yesterday. I was pretty impressed with the amount of snow...

This is what it looked like about two hours ago (it's since snowed more so is probably even a tad higher).

It's beginning to look a lot like Christma...stop now.

Walking in a winter wonderland

It's days like this I miss my Joni dog.

That's her in the snow a couple of years ago. Don't deny how cute she is. And that isn't even the cutest picture of her. I miss her.

But yes, this isn't a bereaved dog lady lamenting about her deceased pet.

It's snowing again (grunt). It always seems such a good idea until trains are cancelled, cars are crashing, the wind is bashing and teeth are nashing due to the cold.

However, it is beautiful. I only wish I didn't have too much work due in tomorrow so I can't appreciate it. I did take a walk though.Though I forgot to charge my camera and thus had about a minute worth of battery. In my lack of camera I then decided to do the only logical thing and put my foot on the frozen stream. It wasn't as frozen as I thought. My foot got wet by what can only be described as very cold water. So very, very cold.

But here's some winter snaps I took before I froze my left foot off...

Anarchy in the UK

As a current university student I should have been down Trafalgar Square scribbling some half wit slogan and smashing bus stands in the name of 'education'. I was in bed.

In fact, I'm geting a little angered by it all. Yes, fair enough if you believe in something make sure your voice gets heard. But don't refer to terrorism and act like mindless hooligans.

A definition of terrorism is: "the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion". That's what you're doing. Do you really think in this current political climate the government will respond to terrorism?

Surely as "educated" members of society, you can use that "education" to think of a better way to assert your disgust at the education plans than acting like a Man City Fan after a horrible loss to Man United.

Sticking anarchy flags on a police van you've destoryed doesn't make anyone feel sympathetic. The police are facing huge cuts as well and half of them will probably be out of a job by next year.

I'm not having a go at anyone's right to protest but what irritates me is that the rest of us have to pay for the actions of a few. Peaceful protests are always admirable but those burning police vans and exerting violence, you're not aiming to get lower fees, you're aiming for anarchy.
